I have been working on an experimental album for a while. All of the tracks are still in pre mix test phases and not polished. The album is going to be called:

"This Isn't Funny"

Here is a song I did today.. of course a pre mix non mastered bad vocal version... but I like it so far. Let me know what you think, it's called:

Sorry Wake Up - broadband stream

or if you want to download it:

http://blackout.com/blackout/mp3/Blackout%20-%20This%20Isn't%20Funny%20-%20I'm%20Sorry%20but%20Wake%20Up_test_L2_74_28.mp3

Listen in high end headphones for full effect.

The buzzing sound that started in the middle made me want to shred my nipples off with a cheese grader. I could barely get through the song because of that sound. The beginning with the music was the best part but it was so loud at times I had no idea what you were saying. The singing could also be a little better.

Sorry, I'm just giving my opinion.
It was creative, and with some improvements I think it would make a great ending or beginning track on the CD.

I have some pop stuff... I like all music.

Yeah, I like the buzzing, personally. The song is pretty interesting...sort of expirimental/industrial. I dig it. I do agree that the vocals could use a touch of work. It would have to be the opening track or the end track to the cd...it has that feeling to it. (Probably more of a closer.)
Funny, I was going to call-in during the last show and ask what was up with your music project, but I guess you just answered that.

Yes, I go all over the place with the vocals and definately out of key and waver on my tone. I wasn't going to put it up because of that but that was just a first take like hmmmmm I have made all these sounds what do I want to do with it vocally? and also.. for what the songs meaning is (to me)... I wanted an almost crying.. weird.. not in control sound. If you haven't yet, do try and listen in headphones because that's what it was mixed and intended for and you can make out the mumblings a lot better which gives it a little mroe meanign rather thn just 'weirdo sounding nightmare song'.

I was inspired and kind of going for a feel between NIN downward spiral, Radio Head Kid A, and the movie Vanilla Sky....

I was just so excited at the weirdness of it that I wanted to get some opinions. As to my album project "This Isn't Funny", There will be a lot of different styles on the album as just like this site, it does not adhere to just one genera. There is some idustrial, some experimental, some piano and accoustic ballads, some all out poppy stuff.

I am toying with it, and trying to be careful because I am much more aware now of my tendancy to take on too many projects than I am able to realistically handle and then not be able to finish them, soI am now trying to be more organized and structured and set dates and scheduals to work on things with set priority levels (Howard would be proud!). I am working on finishing the Blackout's Box DVD (which I have one preview copy done and it's pretty cool, all the main videos are done and I am now into the bonus videos section, stuff that has never been seen on this site), and I am also working hard to rally money for my film project "Revenge of the Worker" which will take full top priority after I finish the box DVD and remastering of the CDs, and upgrade the site. (Steve, call me!!!) Lotsa stuff going on and I'm very busy, at the same time I am doing some video work for that stuff we need in the real world - not Blackout's Box world - money, and I am going to be teaching acting and running an improvistation and acting for stage and acting for camera workship in plantation starting in about a month. I'll post details up on the site when they become available.

The music album is behind all that but sometimes I get very musically inpired and it takes over. Who knows when the album will be finished and I don't know if you will like it or not but I promise it will be an interesting audio journey.

That was straight up WHACK! Terrible. Don't do that again unless you want people to kick your ass. I mean there was no beat for most of it and the singing didn't even make sense with the sound or should I say the talking didn't make sense with the sounds. I think it would have been better if you just had a simple beat going with some pots and pans maybe plucking on a rubber band and throwing a cowbell in there somewhere. Yeah, I'd definately practice, practice, and then practice some more.

Hey hey. You are entitled to your opinion BMF but there was a reason everythig was in a strange time as it was. This is another song I have been finsing people give a 1 or 5 stars.. so I think I am on the right track with it. Plus it accompanies visuals you haven't seen yet... it is supposed to make you feel uncomfortable that is it's purpose.

I liked it. Same thing about vocals needing work. All the inspiration music you mention have teh vocals not so raw.

The stuff, to me was very Yoko Ono... and "Revolution #9".

Sounds like your CD (when it comes out) will be its own version of the White Album... just Blackout style.

The Vincent van Gogh only ever sold one painting in his lifetime. Real art has not monetary value.

If everyone did the same thing, afraid of what was beyond the boundaries, then we would still be drawing on cave walls.

If everyone had the same tastes and interests... the world would be made up of the same person over and over.

It is one thing to embrace a negative opinion. It is great that we can have likes and dislikes purely on our whim of opinion.

But, to turn an open critique about ART into money?

Artists need to make money too, they can't do much else. Shakespeare was a pragmatic playwright. He only wrote plays he knew would please the masses. Just think what he could have done if he decided that he didn't care about money anymore and he just wanted to do something purely artistic... But contrary to popular belief, artists also need to eat.

What you have stated above used to really worry me a lot.

I am glad I got over it.

There is a balance, and if you follow your dreams and quell the foolish worries, you can achive both richness of soul and wealth in money, but the important thing is that you realize the first precedes the 2nd for TRUE richness, and NOT the other way around.

It's funny. I told my mother once, "you have to calm down. Love rules if you will only calm down. LOVE rules."

"Money rules," she replied.

Hence the problem with most of our world.

She really believes that.

As do most...

For now.

are u putting that "would u like to show me around" song on ur album.. haha, thats the best one. I want to hear blackout make a reggae song.

I wish i could make an album myself, i always wanted to play guitar and never bothered to learn. like many things id like to do, but dont.

I'll say this, you're one creative mofo.. with the website, the radio show, the acting and whatever else. Sure, money is nice...but to be doing something you enjoy and have others also enjoying your creations... well thats something you cant buy with all the money in the world. blackouts right.. if you go into something with only money as your goal.. you'll never succeed because your heart isnt into it.
