System Shock. The first one. Actually it may have "anti-killer system requirements" because it's so old, new hardware has trouble running it.
Basically, you are a hacker stuck on a space station called Citadel, and the A.I on board (named SHODAN) has gone nutz and thinks she's God (which is ironic, because you were the one to remove her ethics system). So you have to run around on all the different levels of the station, preventing her plans to destroy earth and such. Really a good game for being made around 1992.

System Shock 2 [Smile] (Demo should be available somewhere on the net)
Has better graphics than the first (by far!), and the lowest machine I've run it on was a 333mhz laptop, and it went just fine. This is the sequel to the first. It's more of an RPG/Shooter. You get stats such as strength, hacking, etc... This time, you're on a starship that has traveled some trillion miles from earth. You wake up from a healing sleep to find that everyone (minus the person talking through your intercom) is dead! Mutants have taken over the ship, but there is a connection between shock 1 and shock 2 that I don't want to spoil for you. Believe me when I tell you this... It's pretty freakin scary. Make sure you have on a good pair of headphones when you play this one. The sounds of moans, growls, and screams will make you crap your pants.

Thief I (I recommend the Gold version if you can find it. Demos should be available on the net) and Thief II. These are also good games, but aren't shooters. You sneak around in various environments with a main objective you're searching for, and tons of extra loot along the way. You get a sword, blackjack, and a variety of arrows that have different functions (water arrows put out torches, making more shadows to hide in). Also, great sound quality.

That's all I have for low end systems that I can think of at the moment. Hope this helps.

Unreal tournament is good, very fast paced and you can be a total noob and still get kills with the shock combo online.

Oh, well now that you got it.. if you ever play online and you die alot let me lend you some helpful advice

All you need to do on that game to succeed is dodge .. don't jump! jump=bad!and try to bind weapons that you use the most to nearby keys so you can switch alot in the midst of battle.

also.. by dodging I mean repetitive movement key tapping.. its better than jumping because you cover more ground in less time..

Surprisingly, Star Wars: Knights Of The Old Republic runs pretty well on my machine. I've only got a 1.8ghz CPU and 256 megs of ram and it runs great. It's not really a FPS, but it has elements of it.

The plot of this game is superb, and it's such a mix of every genre you could want that it pleases everyone.

I was asking another customer at the store where I bought it and he said he thought Star Wars sucks, but he loves the game.

I'll go, but not without my beloved PC.

A kick-your-fuckin-ass case, keyboard, mouse and monitor modification is in the works as well.

God I love computers.

I'm just going to keep upgrading my Alienware forever, past the point of it having anything to do with Alienware beyond the case. Just because the case is so fucking cool, and I'll never be able to afford another one.
