If anyone's been paying attention to the weather, you'll know that there's a Tropical Storm (Isedor or something) in the Gulf of Mexico right now. Unfortunately, this particular TS is headed right for the Mississippi Gulf Coast, which is where I live.
If you kind people wouldn't mind, please put in a good word for me with whatever higher power you believe in (God, Allah, Tree Nymphs, Satan, whatever). And if you don't believe in a higher power, just be kind enough to hope that it doesn't increase in strength or do too much damage in the coming days.

I think its working. The storm seems to be heading towards New Orleans now, which isn't a bad thing. I think every couple of years that den of sin and MTV-twisted, frat-boy-induced, Mardi Gras debauchery needs to be washed out (it was always loud and riotous around Mardi Gras. MTV just added Britney Spears and Nelly to the mix).
But alas, New Orleans is only 2 hours away, so we'll still feel a bit of the storm... Oh well.

Just wash the whole lot out into the middle of the gulf. They could build pontoons under the more important buildings now, and once they're out there, it'd be a floating, lawless, island dedicated completely to drunken debauchery of the worst sort.

Yeah, you see the only problem with that is that New Orleans is below sea level. It should help get the urine smell out of the French Quarter, though.
