I was told I was being extreme when I asserted that women are a minority (not a statistical minority)in our society. Is this an extreme viewpoint?

If speaking on a statistical standpoint (which you aren't) it WOULD be wholly inaccurate.
However, they still do make less money than men, own none of the top corporations and not one of them has been President of the United States.
I'd say that at least puts them somewhere lower on the social totum pole than White, Land-owning Males.

Sure.. women are a minority.. they are physicly weaker and are payed less and are less accepted in most societies...
but I still voted no.. because saying that won't make you extreme.. I actully looked up the word "extreme" and it said "Not saying that women are minorities" I was really suprised.. so I let the dictionary vote for me.

As a "real" minority, I can tell you the test for determining whether or not women are a non-statistical minority (which is almost an oxymoron)... does being a woman (insert other definition) make you more or less likely to get out of a ticket?'
If you answered "less", you're not a minority. You know how many chicks I know who have gotten out of a ticket by crying? A LOT. I tried it once, the cop took me back to his car and... and... I don't want to talk about this anymore.

I personally feel that in today's society that woman are still minorities. I feel this way based upon the way they are treated by business, the government, the entertainment industry, basically by everyone. Until this country can stop being closed minded about every single little thing and begin treating each others as equals, then we will continue to place woman as minorities. ![[Bonzai]](graemlins/bonzaismiley.gif)

The day that quotas started denying jobs to qualified white males because of the fact that they were white males, and giving these jobs instead to potentially underqualified women and people of other races simply because of the fact that they were not white males, was the day that I stopped listening to arguments about women being "minorities".
The fight is over. The ticker is clicking towards equilibrium and equality. Lets stop there.
