Wow. that looked cool. I don't understand how the hell Quicktime trailers look so awesome from apple's website. I have all sorts of the best encoders in the world... Canopus Procoder 2 ect... but.. I have NO idea how to get Quicktime trailers to look like that. Is it because I am on a PC? Is there some expert on Quicktime who knows exactly how to set it? My masters are super clear from the Panasonix DVX100 but Quicktime has just been shit for me which is why I encode for windows media player but I can't get media player to crop up and do the widescreen format right and get rid of the 4:3 bars on the top and bottom when I do a 16 x 9 shoot, so that it plays like the above trailer as a mini streaming widescreen movie.

becasue apple is the god of quicktime. they can make it look good as a porn star if they wanted to. While the home users are stuck with it looking like someone off jerry springer.

UPDATE:
You need the latest expensive Sorenson codec.
Apple doesn't even use their own codecs, only their own encoding/decoding of which independant Sorenson is the star.

It isnt sorenson, its apples H.264 codec
you get it by buying quicktime pro

Sorry Pharris. Wrongo.
The codecs used on apples movie trailer site do not use Apples H.264 codec. As a matter of fact, that codec is relatively new. I have Quicktime Pro and it is a simple matter to see which codec was used. Go ahead an do it and you will see that all the movies on the trailer sight use the sorenson codec because #1,it looks amazing, and #2 - it is backwards compatable. Even on an older machine you can play most of the trailers if you have a fast connection.
The H.264 codec is Apples attempt at remedying this weird situation of having most of the industry go to another company for the best encodes. We'll see what happens with it. It's a mess on windows currently.
