Once agan, for those of you in the know. I do acting, singing, music, pranks, talk, radio, writing, directing, shooting, editing, webcasting... I am the true digital hippie.

Anyway, as I have been going through the vault of my recordings, I have found some good and intersting stuff.

Please remember this was recorded in 1993-94 so this was all done on a 4 track tape real to reel machine! I tried to fix it up as best I could. It definately has an older sound to it but I like the lyrics and thought some of you might like it. I have discovered a lot of songs and other material that had been 'lost' for a while, so I will slowly be putting them up, and some will be included on the upcoming Blackout's Box DVD and new CD.

This is called "Paranoid"

"Paranoid"

Lyrics and Vocals by Blackout (Michael Biggins)
Music by Martin Elfers

Like a nightmare that wont go away,
the feeling plagues me every day.
Tears on my mind, pulls on my soul.
Like a young man growing old
I can't seem to stop the way it has to be,
the fingers always poking me,
and I just wanna hide myself

It's a feeling that I'd like to change
All my life I'm running from the pain.
All my friends become my enemies.
Can't get rid of this disease.

Maybe I'm wrong but the way I see,
is that everyone's just using me,
playing me like I'm a toy.
Why am I so paranoid?

Laying in my bed I toss and turn,
seems like I'm always being burned
by people I don't even know,
an attraction at a side show
is what it feels like I've become.
I hope that someone's having fun,
cause I've had my last laugh.

All I wanna do is life my life
but there's always someone who decides
that they have to mess with me.
Why can't they just let me be?
Everyone's just in a selfish rush.
There ain't no one left who I can't trust.
My opinon's null and void.
Why am I so paranoid?

Why?
Why am I so paranoid?
Why?
Why am I so paranoid?
Paranoid.
Paranoid.
Why am I so paranoid?
Paranoid.
Paranoid.
Why am I so paranoid?

It's a feeling that I'd like to change.
All my life I'm running from the pain.
All my friends become my enemies.
Can't get rid of this disease.

Maybe I'm wrong but the way I see
is that everyone's just using me.
Playing me like I'm a toy.
Why am I so paranoid?

All I wanna do is life my life
but there's always someone who decides
that they have to mess with me.
Why can't they just let me be?
Everyone's just in a selfish rush.
There ain't no one left who I can't trust.
My opinon's null and void
Why am I so paranoid?

Another moment passes by.
Another friend tells another lie,
or maybe it's just in my mind
I guess I'll have to find just
what it is that brings me down
and bury it deep in the ground
a little dirt keeps me so clean.

It's a feeling that I'd like to change.
All my life I'm running from the pain.
All my friends become my enemies.
Can't get rid of this disease.

Maybe I'm wrong but the way I see,
is that everyone's just using me.
Playing me like I'm a toy.
Why am I so paranoid?

I just can't take this anymore.
I'm never able to be sure
of who is real and who is fake
my sanity's at stake.
I don't know just how long I'll last,
my mind is really going fast,
but every DOG has his DAY.

All I wanna do is life my life,
but there's always someone who decides
that they have to mess with me.
Why can't they just let me be?
Everyone's just in a selfish rush,
there ain't no one left who I can't trust
My opinon's null and void.
Why am I so paranoid?

Paranoid.
Paranoid.
Why am I so paranoid?
Paranoid.
Paranoid.
Why am I so paranoid?

Paranoid.
Paranoid.
Why am I so paranoid?
Paranoid.
Paranoid.
Why am I so paranoid?

You are not your job, your titles, your possessions, your degrees, your lovers, your relationships, your place of residence, your social security number, your ID, your bills, your worries, your bank account, your age or your body. You are the timeless being that created & perceives itself through those things, and you have the power to play or not play that game. Not yet. Working on it as with other deals. I was always scared of really trying to make it and sending myself to companies and selling myself. That's all changed now. I'm an artist/marketing whore.

You should send the WAV file to me via the FTP. I will load it up in the studio and do a mastering run on it. It sounds pretty good, and if I can restore some of the low end and balance the mids a little bit it might sound a bit better.

You mixed this on the Sony V6 headphones, and this is the problem with them hyping the bass so much. It makes you think there's too much when there's not enough.

Weren't you 18 when you did that one?

Shane!

You finally appear on the boards!

yeah, I thought it needed some extra bass and tweaks in the mid ranges and highs too but I was tired.

I have a good clean wav, I will bring it by or e-mail it to you or ftp it.

I aso have the other stuff from our band.

It's like a slightly rough, really groovy mix of Pretty Hate Machine-era NIN and The Real Thing-era FNM.
Yeah, it could use a bit more bass to it to update the sound a bit.
Not bad. I would be happy to hear some more stuff you did with this music project.

Funny you should say that. I was very Nine Inch Nails influenced at the time. I do like the lyrics and verses and some of the chorus... I dont like my main vocal on the chorus.. it is in mono and with a crappy lamo-verb. You have NO idea how difficult it was to mix this with only a 4 track. I remember actually having to sing ad lib through a stereo processor/fx box for the some of the chorus background vocals and effects while I mastered and mixed this to DAT! There was no other way possible to get the amount of background sounds I wanted without bouncing tracks again which on tape, back in the early 90s, sounded like SHITE!

perhaps this warrants a modern remake with a new synth... hmmmmm interesting.

yeah i wasn't the only that caught that whole NIN vibe either. It kinda sounds a little bit like "down in it" and "head like a hole"

It's good even though you definately did bite the whole NIN style on that one but I guess at that time you were just in your infancy stage where you kind of had to bite someone else's style until you found your own. other than that good job.

That was actually a whole lot better than last shit you put out with the sound and no beat and just talking over the lousy ass sound. God. That was horrible.
