Why is it you think that to be artistic you have to be all depressed and manic or have mental problems? I'm tired of this shit. There have been people, musicians, and writers who have actually had depression or some other mental bullshit and yes they were creative but that doesn't mean you've got to be like that or that you are like that. Personally I think you are just a bullshit faker. I think you are infatuated with the idea that you are a tortured creative genius but you're not. You probably don't even know what pain is. Maybe you've had some misfortunes in your life time but your life hasn't been all that bad. You just like to act all depressed because people will think you are mysterious and weird and a creative genius. Well I fucking don't, I see right through that. I can tell because anything artistic you try to do lacks one thing. It lacks the essence you are trying to capture and in the end is just a lousy attempt to paint a picture for someone of something you don't even understand yourself. I've known quite a few people in my life and some of them have had some fucked up things happen to them like rape or being layed off from a job so close to retirement, a young kid raising his siblings because their dad is in jail for murder and their mom is prostitute, you know, real hardships. A lot of them are poor, the bottom of society and don't really have much but they still have a lot better outlook on life than you and your fucking tortured middle class soul. So your parents didn't hug you, so what. That's no reason to torture yourself for no reason, mutilate yourself, start calling yourself Raven, and writing bad poetry with a macabre theme in which you over use words like: hell, dark, blood, die, cold, winter, wretched, longed, tears, cried, scream, and hurt. Seriously, get over yourself. You are not mysterious, you are not a a genius and you most certainly are not tortured. You are just pathetic. You have no real problems but the ones you create in your mind and think you have. You are not the epitome of a broken home and heartless society. You are just to sad for words to describe.

You know, people called 'Raven' are often female and attractive, if completely batshit annoying. I wouldn't be so quick to judge.

I did wonder for a while whether small case 'bmf' was the same person as upper case 'BMF'. I'm not really wondering anymore.

I generally held similar cynical beliefs.. The fact is that alot of artists do their best work when they are at their low points in life, not that they deliberately try to be depressed.. but when they are happy, they have no need to paint or write poetry or whatever they do, unless they really enjoy doing them.. You'll notice that if you look at american literature history, alot of the most famous poets of the time never wanted their poetry published, they wrote it for themselves to help deal with the difficult times, but ends up getting published anyways by people who managed to find them.
It's my guess that's largely the case now..
Though there are some idiots out there who want everybody to think they are tortured geniuses.. those people never really get that famous.. they generally stay at home and cut themselves then go out in public wearing soley black.

I think bmf IS raven and bmf and he is a tortured genius by being so tortured by how truly untortured these supposed 'tortured' writers and creatives are. It torures me so see this talent go unnoticed.
Hand me my torch.
And all pain, is supposedly self created. Even f you are a crack baby with the pimp dady and prostitute mom... or the rich upper class kid. Everythings relative. Even if you have no family.
We all walk together.

here let me explicate so you can better understand.
Take Tina Turner for example. I think it's fair to say she's had her share of shit. Right. Okay. Exactly. but you don't see Tina making a big deal over a failed 2 month relationship like you might see some little teeny bopper called Raven, wearing all black at some coffee house reading a poem entitled:
(Made up poem starting)
The greatest pain in life
My soul is empty and dark you have left me and the sun burns with anger in my soul and tears of blood flow inward from my eyes. this the greatest pain in life.
(made up poem over.)
Tina Turner - put up with years of domestic abuse. Raven - dumped by her boyfriend after 2 months.
So let's make a situation out of this like a tv show.
(Tina finds raven in restroom of the coffee house trying to slash her wrists)
Tina: What's wrong Raven?
Raven: Stay away from me, you can't help me!
Tina: Believe me Raven. I understand how you feel. It'll go away and things will get better.
Raven: NO! Things never get better. Not for me. My life is shit.
Tina: Trust me girl. I've been through it.
Raven: No. You don't fucking understand me. No one does. Now fuck off lady. You don't understand my pain. Your just little miss perfect with the perfect life.
Tina: Are you kiddin me? I've been in a bad marriage and constantly physically and emotionally abused for years; YEARS upon years. as a young girl I grew up poor my mother died when I was a little girl. I had nothing and you; you are just going to sit there and tell me that I don't know what you are going through. Get out! You went through a break up dear, that's it. You are NOT mysterious and you most certainly are NOT a tortured soul. You have no real problems but the ones you create in your mind and think you have. You are NOT the epitome of a broken home and heartless society. You Raven, need to take a good look in the mirror and tell me what you really see.
(Tina exits, Raven stands looking in the mirror rethinking her whole outlook on life and her situation)
fade to black. roll credits

Yes, but for whatever reasons, Tina might and probably is just a stronger person emotionally than Raven. Tina might have been a 'Raven' for 20 past lives, and this life her strength rose up. Tina might have more talent and resolve. This doesn't make Raven's pain any less real than Tina's. Everyone has different levels of what they can deal with and how well they deal with all different areas of life.
I know that sometimes you hear someone whining about something that seems like a trivial problem and to you, and you think 'oh come on... that's nothing... I had to deal with so much worse', but then someone with more problems than YOU've ever had to deal with in your life or more than Tina could say the same thing to you, and it can turn into one of those 'my life has been so much harder than yours' pissing contests. I hear people do this all the time. There are always levels up and down, and different souls are in different places and different phases of development at different times and raised in different environments and learned different things and learned how to cope or not cope depending on many many, many factors. Maybe the best form of expression Raven ever learned is crappy poetry to some, but helpful to her. Everyone can get into a pissing contest about how much 'worse' they have had it than someone else and how much better or worse they are coping. I have felt extremely strong and talented at times, and a total worthless piece of shit at others. Who's to say what is the true pain? Once again it's all relative. Maybe Raven is just young and what you consider to be her crappy trivial wanna be feel sorry for herself poems are just the best and most she knows at this time to cope. Everyone's circumstances are different and unique. I think the biggest thing is to care about everyone as much as you can, even the assholes, because at some point, we all can be 'the asshole', and at some times, we all can be the hero or the helper.
Different levels at different times.
You may come back as a teenage girl with not much real world experience and write bad poetry some day.
But who's to say?
Life is whacky that way.
Have you ever read, "Ode to a small lump of green putty I found in my left armpit one misdummer morning?"
Vogon poetry... supposedly the longest and worst in the universe according to the Hitchiker's Guide to the Galaxy.
Whatever you do, just don't panic.

Art is Art. Some find their muse in torture and pain, some find their muse in happiness and sunshine, and some find their in an overblown exaggeration of either of the two. At times my poetry also sounds like the poetry of a sad little goth boy who hasn't taken his medication. Other times, not so much. The point being is that Art is art, and you can like it or not.
