The Lauras
The razor sharp feathers scratched at the poor blue's face until his color started to fade away.
He screamed, he cried, but the blue was slowly turning black.
Crystal time strands were falling faster and further into the melted jello mountains that surrounded the innocent blue. As the strands fell, the feathers scratched deeper.
The blue was turning black. The blue was turning black. There was no turning back.
The fading blue looked for help, for a friend, but none was found, and the blue fell slowly to the ground.
The blue was black.
The mountains sighed, the jello hardened.
The lauras came, and took the black away.
Later, in their lair, the lauras laughed.
"Looks like this one was a blue," said one laura to another.
"Well it's a black now," replied another laura as it kicked the dead black across the silent ground. The ground wanted to help, it wanted to speak out, it wanted to stop the lauras, but there was nothing it could do. It was just... the ground.
The lauras grinned at eachother, then left, their feathery death trailing behind them.

I had posted this poem somewhere before and someone sent me a picture that very closely matches how I envisioned the laura creatures in the poem. Take a look, and read the poem over again after you do, it's freaky:

It's not that she was this evil girl to me or anything such as that. Actually I think she liked me very much but I was far too shy in high school when I was alone with a girl so I never made a move or kissed her and I think she became frustrated and gave up on me. She was a little bit older than I was, so my shyness might have been interperated as a lack of interest. Or maybe she just didn't like me. Who knows? Such is the way of young love. I kind of had this poem working and mulling around in my brain before her and then when things didn't work out with us I experienced a slight devistation and so I used her name.. but with a lower case l, as the creatures name.
Yes, believe it or not I was very shy once. I could do fine in big groups, but when I was one on one with a girl it was all over.

still haven't gone to bed yet I see? Well, hopefully if you go to bed in the early evening you can catch up on sleep and get used to going to bed at night again.
In the meantime, I guess I'll try to sing you a lullabye so you can fall asleep..

Very interesting picture, but that really didn't look like Laura F. at all. I remember her pretty well. She wasn't cute like high school girls can be cute... she had a much more mature beauty to her, but I could tell it was wrapped around an inner turmoil so deep that it was hard to penetrate that shell. I remember the poetry she wrote--at once disturbing, controversial, moving, and magnificent. There was a poem she wrote in which she personified a puppy with elements of what I assume were her life, and she took painstaking time to capitalize and underscore specific letters and words. They had some kind of vague meaning or pattern, but only to her. The co-editor of our literary magazine retyped it with all lowercase, so Laura came to me to complain.
She was extremely soft-spoken, but if she asked I think any guy would do anything for her.

he is going to run away he's going to dig to China he doesn't know they eat dogs in China kitty is dry Keith says cats are smarter than dogs even though their brains are smaller- and dogs are nice because they have big brains dogs are happy in general, happy to be big-brained
he hides his bones in China (they don't eat bones in China) Keith says dogs believe in god but people won't let them go to church dogs don't need to go to church because they believe in god best there isn't god in China, just fat-man statues, that's why they eat dogs there dogs are the least sad because they're the least happy

Sigh. I remember that poem. I just had a flashback.
Sitting... quietly... and remembering.
Good old Laura F. I can still remember her smell and how her hair always covered one eye. I wonder what she looks like now.
No, the picture didn't look like Laura.. the picture just looks like the creatures I envisioned in the poem the lauras. And I want to make it clear that I didn't write that poem in hate or spite towards Laura. She just inspired it a bit. I remember I gave it to her and she freaked out and was upset. I tried to explain that I didn't see her as this terrible thing, that it was something I was working on before I even knew her. But I think instead some sort of dribble, or perhaps a small piece of cheese, came out of my mouth.
Laura Frankenfield was beautiful in a creepy sort of way. She reminded me of Halloween. Yet she was no goofy goth chic. Does that make any sense?
I remember one time I was badly sunburned, and she just blew on me for a few minutes. It was one of the most erotic encounters I think I had ever had. Yes, I can see the obvious blow job jokes so don't even start, see, I cut you off before you had a chance.
Supposedly Sir Stacieous - SAHFilms here on the boards knows Yana still who KNOWS Laura's phone number but who won't give it to me! Can you believe that.
Well, if you ever happen to stumble in here by pure chance, I loved you Laura and I'd love to see you again some day before we all die and hit the reset button.

Yeah James,
You bump and grind it!
Seriously though, good idea. With this New Times article and hopefully new people coming to the site, perhaps we should go through the archives of over 10,000+ messages and bump up some of the bes threads in each category. Give the boards a little adrenaline kick.
And I do so love this thread.

I hope the newspaper article brings more people and I asked the owners of the other site, Thought Cafe, I write at to post a link to Blackout. She said she would check it out and she will probably do it since this is such an awesome place to write. Hope you don't mind. iblieve
