All these media players want to take over everything and it is annoying.

You need to modify the Winamp INstall package so that it ONLY takes over as an audio player and not as a video player because it does not properly stream .wmv files and quicktime files.
This needs to be addressed immediately.
2ndly..
Help me.. I have installed the new mdia player and now it is bloated and loads up to stupid web pages I dont want to see pushing artists I dont want and trying to encrypt files if I burn CDs..
die and burn in hell microsoft....
How do I have a small compact player that has all the needed codecs for video and STREAMS correctly without all this boated crap that media player has turned into.
13 meg update needed.. are you KIDDING me?!?!?

uinstall all your players (besides WMP), and all your codecs and install this codec pack, it comes with players and codecs and its great, you'll never need anything else again

Use Open Source Software...
http://videolan.org
If that player cannot play it, it most likely cannot be played...
Also it plays network streams...
