The Wicker Man, Rollerball(original), Clockwork Orange, The Magic Christian, Help etc, etc ...

Does anyone else dig these sort of flicks...
they all look piss poor in terms of production and are pretty tacky in general and fairly straight forward storylines(if they have one)...

they just seem to have more atmosphere than 99% of the movies that come out these days...
Seems like the bigger the budget and the more technology used the less atmosphere, no time to build up images and themes just explosions and character conflict...
It's not that these films don't exist these days just they seem to flop... Dark City, Memento etc...

The only one of those I have seen is The ClockWork Orange, I have heard about The Wickerman and have thought about seeing it. I've seen The Clockwork Orange once. I found it to be disturbing but beautiful at the same time. I haven't been able to bring myself to watch it again because I had a very difficult time watching the rape scene. That doesn't overshadow the rest of the film for me though. It's a movie that has never left me.

I find not many movies "wow" me anymore. I'm pretty disappointed in that. I think sometimes a big budget and advanced technlogy kills the creativity. Money drives movies and what "sells" drives the cranking out of crap.
