Just rented Weird Al Yankovic's movie "UHF." Wasn't bad, actually. It was on par with "Airplane," and "The Naked Gun" for 80's screwball humor, but slightly offset with a slightly different approach to the humor. Yankovic pulls a Buster Keaton move, and only uses outrageous and unrealistic humor in dream sequences and commercials, not in actual "reality," though they had a couple of truly unrealistic events, don't get me wrong...
It reminded me of Napoleon Dynamite, only... Funny. Hahaha, Sorry Nap. fans
Worth a rent. Look for the dvd with all the features, because Yankovic just explaining the deleted scenes is even humorous, rather than dull and pointless like most dvds haha. He admits that they were deleted because "They Sucked!" and the only reason he put them on is because "we'd bitch."
I can't wait to hear the commentary haha.

UHF was a classic from my childhood, even if it was corny as hell even as a kid.

Oh sure it's not as good as stuff is now, but I was actually suprised how tight they fit the plot, everyone did something separate that all came together at the end for a proper resolution. I liked that... rather than having the fate of the entire thing hinge on one person or event... the girlfriend, the bum, Stanley Spadowski, etc. all had something they contributed to the resolution of the film.

Haha, finally listened to the audio commentary, and I must say it's the best and most interesting audio commentary I've heard yet on a dvd... They tell you a lot of stuff, and it's not boring like some crappy ramblings I've heard before. Worth a listen, yes indeed.

Yeah, I loved that movie, still do...then again, I am an avid Weird Al fan.
The commentary is hilarious, esp. with all the specifics Al remembers about the shoot.
Even Al admitted that the plot is kind of hackneyed, but the point of the movie was just to have fun; which they did indeed have.
Definitely worth a rent..if nothing but for Michael Richards.

I think my favorite factoid from the commentary is that the "Spatula City" billboard stayed up for a a couple months after filming wrapped.
And I love how he gives the precise address for each scene in the film.
