So, recently, I went out and bought a copy of Half-Life. The first one. That's right, I kick it old school. When I'm not getting mercilessly killed at TFC or a nice deathmatch, I play the single player game now and then. Although I can't understand something; Why the hell do those special forces guys keep shooting at me??? I mean, I have my hands full enough with these weird mutant aliens from another dimension (or whatever) but then there are these guys with machine guns who are trying to kill me as well. What's their deal? I mean, I'm sure they're there to wipe out the alien threat and then kill any witnesses, but, I mean, COME ON!!! Why can't we just be friends in this situation, just for the time being? I have a gun, they have guns, we could eliminate the alien scourge together. And THEN they could kill me. It's frustrating to bop along, creeping down a dark corridor killing weird dog things and other, slightly larger things that fire green shit at me, and then all of the sudden, some ass-headed guy in white camoflage is unloading his weapon into my ass while I run for cover, reload, and have to kill him.
I'm not a bad guy. Why can't we all just get along?

half life. was a great fps game... not the best as touted, but it still rocks for its time period,
half life 2 looks beuitifull,( but sucks on the x box)
any ways the guys with the guns are there to " add variety" to the game play hehehehe... i used to make games for a living and we called it "fill" the first few encounters move the plot forward,,, the rest if fluff and filler to fill up the expected 8-14 hours of game play that was expected 6 years ago... now your lucky to get 6 hours... i actualy belive thats the target now a'days....
some other good single player games to scope out.... no one lives forever... i liked this game way better than half life king pin.... just a classic. both DeusEx games.... you can play them both 3 diferant times and have a great and differant time DOOM III this game ... i dont care how mindles any one says it is... is fucking good the origonal unreal... played it 5 times still like it this is a lost classic---requeim awsome game was way befor it time grafixxx wise but is an increadable pain in the ass to get running on win 2000k or XP
system shock 2....... .... .. . . awsome!
clive barkers "undieing" spelt wronge but still a great time
returne to castle wolfenstine... good haul
"fear" has got some ok game play but runs like shit on my pc that is 4 times the min system specs
nocturne: and all thre of the blair witch games
call of cuthulu fucking rocked!
and make shure you get the three mission packs for half life if you end up wanting more, opposing force was grand
and get "they hunger" a mod for half life... to me it was a better time than the game it was made from
drakkan!!!!!!!!!!!!! great game where you ax orks and fly a dragon
anachranox---rpg made with the q2 engine... they did a damn good job
and finaly the butter on the pan cakes... quake 1 and quake 2 10 and 6 years old... still fucking great.... have fun

The original System Shock and System Shock 2 were awesome. Thief, Thief II, and Thief: Deadly Shadows all very good. Mafia, a classic. The original GTA and GTA 2 were pretty good in their time, but I've been spoiled too much from San Andreas to go back to em
And in the "adventure" department, The Journeyman Project (trilogy), Shadow of Destiny, and Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis.
I heard Sam & Max Hit the Road was good, but I can't get it to work right on my computer ![[Frown]](frown.gif)

I recently bought Half-Life 2 for PC I just built. WTF! There is this annoying Steam engine that you MUST install to play the game. It loads up on startup whether you play the damn game or not. And it is basically adware because it puts popups on your computer when you are done with the game.
As if that isn't bad enough, installing the game literally takes hours because Steam connects and downloads a bunch of crap at a bout a bit per minute. F@#! I’m annoyed.
I did a search on “Steam half-life annoying” and apparently I’m not the only one shit housed about this.
Had I known this, I’d just stick with the Xbox version.

I KNOW! I bought HL before we had internet here. I just wanted to play the single player game in the meantime until we got everything hooked up. And then there's this Steam program that insists on going on the internet and updating the software so I can play against people online. It was annoying.

Or you could go to your favorite video game store and find yourself a copy for $10-$20. A little more expensive, but safer for your computer.
The only thing I don't like about Halo is the room selection screen. I don't like the idea of sitting through a whole scrolling marquee to see if this is a room that I want to go into. And having to reload the room list everytime is a bit annoying.

I don’t mind paying for a game as long as the price is reasonable. But what Valve has done is basically screw over all of their paying customers to prevent privacy IMO. I’m done with anything that involves Steam in the future.
Halo was great on the Xbox, I can’t wait to try it on the PC . Thanks for the tip.

I generally go for the standard BitTorrent stuff. Anything I'm looking for I go to Google and type in "[name of media]" "torrent." (in quotes, of course) This usually leads me to a torrent that (9/10) is working. The only problem is, since the Oscars and that award Robert Altman got this past year, I've been jonesing to watch the original M*A*S*H* movie again. Every torrent I've tried has been a dud, thus far. I might end up just buying the damn movie. There's a damn fine DVD remaster out there. Might have to make a trip out to Best Buy once I get my car fixed.

The government is trying to cover up the outbreak, that's part of the Story.
Although I thought the GMan was involved with that, but getting through Half Life 2 I've come to the conlusion he isn't.
Infact, he may not even exist at all. Maybe in Gordon's conscience. And he really didn't play a key part in anything in HL2, which was a disappointment somewhat. I do know that Gordon has a specific desitiny to fullfill and that the GMan helps tell that side of the story, hopefully it'll all be known in Half Life 3. And hopefully it won't be a crap out on the story like in the 3rd Matrix.
Then again comparing HL2's story to Matrix Reloaded, I'd say there is a strong chance it won't. I enjoyed HL2 almost more then HL1.

Oh, I understand that, Deadcow. I figured they were there to "clean up." But I just don't understand why we can't work TOGETHER. I don't like killing them, but they keep trying to kill me, so I really don't have much of a choice. I just think we should all get together and eliminate this alien scourge in a united fashion. Then afterwards, while we're having a beer and laughing over the horrible ordeal we just went through, they could take me out back and THEN shoot me.

Try American McGee's ALICE. I'm playing it again this weekend. The graphics and levels are pretty amazing.
