If you believe they exist, let me know why? When do you think they will make themselves known to us (enmasse)?

I believe they exist. I'm pressed for time at the moment, so I can't fully say 'Why'. I think it's very narrow to think we are the only 'race/being/life-form' that exists. I'm sure there are other galaxies with 'life forms' that look similar to us, with human intelligence. Or they could look quite different but think, and live like us. They could be way farther advanced then us.
All I know is yes, I do.

I know they exist because...I am an alien, and I exist.

I'm pretty sure I'm an alien too. Kind of like a cylon (non-violent form) programmed to play a human and the right buttons have not been pressed yet! ![[Razz]](tongue.gif)

People are animals dude. Advanced animals, at best.
It's no strange coincidence or freak accident why we're here today. This universe is full of life. And I'd bet that there are many many more universes outside of our own that are abundant in life as well.

I like this question. It is impossible for me to know the unknown but, I believe that there is a strong possibility for life to exist elsewhere in the universe. There is a chance that there is another perfect world out there.
I dont believe that they are little grey men with 2 legs, 2 arms, 5 phalanges, and 2 black eyes. Discussing this with my younger sister we came up with the idea of Metalic Alien beings who come to earth and are not amused buy our enslavement of machines.

I could not actually vote because the buttom was too complicated for my phone's browser to figure out.
But like others in this thread, I believe it is foolish to think that out of the countless stars in the universe, ours is the only one with a planet that has intelligent life on it.

Well, I believe that anything is possible but I am not sure that I am comfortable with the definition or even concept of 'alien'.
The linguistic definition of alien is quite fascinating though:
# (a.) Wholly different in nature; foreign; adverse; inconsistent (with); incongruous; -- followed by from or sometimes by to; as, principles alien from our religion.
# (n.) One excluded from certain privileges; one alienated or estranged; as, aliens from God's mercies.
# (a.) Not belonging to the same country, land, or government, or to the citizens or subjects thereof; foreign; as, alien subjects, enemies, property, shores.
# (n.) A foreigner; one owing allegiance, or belonging, to another country; a foreign-born resident of a country in which he does not possess the privileges of a citizen. Hence, a stranger.
# (v. t.) To alienate; to estrange; to transfer, as property or ownership.
The underlying sentiment is that an alien is something strange. To my mind, this exposes a human weakness; we do tend to fear, ridicule and even cast out things we are not fully able to understand.
Perhaps we are the aliens, an unwelcome species ravaging one of several planets, oxydising that sphere, which for all we know may be part of Zeus' marble collection.
If we are not careful, we may be subject to some severe de-rusting.

Hi Sobek,
You make a valid point. I intended the use of the word Alien merely in the context of popular culture, ET, Alien, Predator and so on.
And I was too lazy in learning how to spell Extraterrestial - being conscious life forms that are not on this planet.
So do you believe they exist?
I could just imagine the day they turn up... Twitter would be going nuts...

Hi Sage,
Your question lends itself to being interpreted by a cooky mind as "Do you believe there is something wholly different to us out there"?
The answer for me has to be no; I think everything in the universe is organic and so less extreme than we at first perceive (and therefore much like us on at least 1.3 different levels).
That is not to say that I do not believe there are more intelligent life forms than us. All we need do is look at the animal kingdom; crocs, snakes, sharks, all great evolutionary marvels who have been around longer than us. Our track record is pretty poor compared to these guys as things stand at the moment.
So, I guess the concept of little white men with googley eyes doesn't turn me on, but the belief that there will always be something out there smarter than me, does.
